Following our big find with the automatic cow watering bowl, I figured I’d do a little research into the bricks scattered throughout the yard, to figure out how old they are and their origin.

Thanks to the wonders of Google, my research was quite simple. Upon Googling “SSBCO” I found out the bricks were manufactured by the Sutton & Suderly Brick Co. They operated from 1885-1957, and were located in Coeymans, NY, which is about a half hour south of Albany, on the Hudson River. Our house was built in 1956, so these bricks were probably common around that time.

I doubt they’re worth anything, since apparently brick collectors tend to trade bricks, rather than buy them, but it’s always fun to discover some more history related to our home!
